There were so many details to work out - work budgets, social plans for my husband, flights and hotel for graduations, two weddings to plan for - that I really did not have time to think about my upcoming trip. Even at the airport waiting to board I did not have time to focus on my itinerary. Finally, I boarded the plane, stepped over the gentleman who chose not to move out of the way for me as I claimed the seat next to him, and buckled my seat belt. Then, the flight attendant gave the usual pre-flight instructions. Oh wait! He was speaking Hebrew! And then it became real. I started to... Read More
By Liz McOsker Women's Journey to Israel -WRJ 2017 will be my fifth trip to Israel. My first was with my daughter’s twelfth grade Hebrew class on their spring break trip. It was her third time, so let’s not kid ourselves about which one of us was the chaperone. My next two were congregational trips. My most recent trip was in March 2015 with other WRJ leaders to check in with our movement partners and YES Fund grantees, to visit progressive communities around the country and oh, by the way, to see some historic sites. I will never forget the first time I stood on top of Masada, looking east... Read More

My son went on his first trip to Israel with his URJ Crane Lake Camp friends on the summer NFTY in Israel trip. So, I’m the only one in my family of four that has never been to... Read More

At breakfast this morning, Seminar participants were scattered in pairs and fours all over the restaurant, connected in animated conversations, bonding after only a few hours together yesterday. We began the morning... Read More

Some traveled from halfway across the globe while others came from a mere tube ride away, each with her own leadership journey yet sharing a common vision of the world strengthened by progressive Jewish values.
