The countdown is on! In just a few days registration will close for the 2025 Rabbi Marla J. Feldman Social Justice Conference (SJC). Don’t miss this opportunity to gather, advocate, and form community around social justice. Now is the time to raise our voices!
Conference breakdown:
When: SJC begins on Friday, April 4 in the late afternoon, and concludes on Monday, April 7 in mid-afternoon.
Where: Just outside of Washington DC! We are centrally located right outside the city to allow for easy access throughout the area.
Who: SJC is designed for everyone. If you are just curious or beginning to explore social justice, this conference is perfect for you. You will be able to learn about issues that matter to you through a feminist lens and experience the power of collective action in a safe and supportive environment. If you are an experienced social justice advocate, this conference is also perfect for you. You will find many opportunities to use your skills, stretch your wings, and delve deeply into your high priority issues.
Why should you join us:
During these four days together, we will experience large servings of sisterhood and spirituality, as well as social justice. We will celebrate a beautiful Shabbat together, led by WRJ lay leaders and clergy from the DC area. We will create community through learning together, taking action together, meeting new friends and old, and spending quality time with like-minded people who share our values.
Join us because we will have an impact! We will hear from exciting keynote speakers who are experts in their fields and doing the work of social justice every day. We will also have a wide variety of workshops for beginners, experts, and everything in between. Workshops will cover many social justice topics that you care about, as well as topics like self-care and resiliency in these difficult times.
You will meet interesting people from not only North America, but Israel and other parts of the world.
Finally, for maximum impact, we will join arms together on Monday and head to Capitol Hill to lobby our elected representatives. If you have not lobbied before, no worries. We will provide lobbying training, beginning online before the conference and continuing in-person once we are there. You will be completely supported throughout the process. The issues we will be lobbying for are democracy, Israel, and reproductive rights. We will supply background and talking points for each issue, as well as a framework to follow in your meetings.
Opening Our Tent: The Empowerment Package
While the entire Social Justice Conference is designed for those who identify as women, nonbinary, and genderfluid, we are inviting everyone in the Reform Movement to join us beginning on Sunday afternoon and through the end of the conference, including those who identify as men. This special registration, the Empowerment Package, is also perfect for those who are not able to get away for the whole conference. We can’t wait to host this diverse group and to have the added impact of lobbying together on Monday.
Honoring our Heroes: A Gala Evening
As part of the Social Justice Conference registration, including the Empowerment Package, we will share a festive gala on Sunday evening, where we will honor our Women's Empowerment Award winners and hear from Dr. Cochav Elkayam-Levy, the winner of this year’s Jane Evan Pursuit of Justice Award in recognition of her commitment to international human rights and the elimination of discrimination against women and gender-based violence. In the fall of 2023, Dr. Elkayam-Levy was instrumental in not allowing the UN to all but ignore the unspeakable crimes committed against Israeli women in the wake of October 7. Don’t miss this opportunity to meet her.
Being together is the magic
SJC is our opportunity in 2025 to be together, to draw strength from each other, and to amplify our voices in community. Whether you come for the friendships, for the worship services, for the education, or for the social justice impact that we can only have when we act together, this is the place you will want to be to make a difference.
We can’t wait to see you there!
