Women of Reform Judaism was honored to participate at all three state-side ordination ceremonies at Hebrew Union College- Jewish Institute of Religion recognizing our Movement's newest rabbis, cantors, educators, and other Jewish professionals.
At the New York ordination, WRJ President Karen Sim, WRJ Secretary Jane Karlin, and WRJ Executive Committee member Shoshana Dweck were all in attendance to celebrate this sacred ceremony. We were especially excited to congratulate WRJ's very own social justice intern, Hannah Ellenson, on her ordination into the rabbinate!
In Los Angeles, WRJ Vice President of Member Services Karen Goldberg represented WRJ at the west coast campus's ceremony. "It was so inspiring to see and hear from our newest Reform rabbis, and so many people shared how appreciative and thankful they are to WRJ for our longtime support of and partnership with HUC," Karen shared.
In Cincinnati, WRJ CEO Rabbi Liz P.G. Hirsch addressed the campus as the ordination speaker. She spoke about the power of the pulpit and what it means to step into rabbinic leadership today.
"I’m honored to preach today at the pulpit of Isaac Meyer Wise, founder of our seminary and our Movement. And to this Cincinnati faculty, I so appreciate your scholarship and leadership, your warmth and friendship," Rabbi Hirsch shared.
"Know where we came from, know where we are going. We need you, our newest leaders, and you need us, and the world needs us all, now, more than ever.
"Now it is time for you to share your visions and your Torah. With gratitude to God - Here you are. We need you, and we need each other."
