An upstander is a person who speaks or acts in support of an individual or cause, oftentimes particularly someone who intervenes on behalf of a person being attacked or bullied. This workshop, provided by The Nancy & David Wolf Holocaust & Humanity Center in Cincinnati, OH, will empower participants to become upstanders by harnessing their VIA Character Strengths to foster personal growth and strengthen connections with others. Drawing inspiration from the lessons of the Holocaust, we explore how values and strengths can help overcome barriers and build a community of engaged citizens. Through self-reflection and meaningful community-building exercises, participants will leave equipped to create spaces where respect, collaboration, and upstanding are woven into everyday actions.
Participating in this workshop will equip you to be an upstander, whether it's for a Day of Action program/event or in preparation of being in-person with large groups at your District Conventions. This training also provides you with the confidence to be an upstander every day.
Prior to Attending: We highly recommend that all participants take the VIA Character Strengths Survey at least two days before attending the program, utilizing the provided link from The Holocaust & Humanity Center: https://wrj2026.pro.viasurvey.org/.
