London, England, April 11, 2016 – A group of Reform and Progressive Jewish women from 15 countries around the world will gather in London, England for the inaugural Wilkenfeld International Women’s Leadership Seminar facilitated by Women of Reform Judaism (WRJ). Held in partnership with World Union for Progressive Judaism (WUPJ) just prior to its European Union for Progressive Judaism conference, the WRJ Wilkenfeld International Women’s Leadership Seminar will provide skill-building and learning opportunities for women to deepen their connections with WRJ and the Reform/Progressive Movement, with the purpose of strengthening women’s roles in the global Jewish community. Each participant will be encouraged to develop and articulate a personal leadership vision and create a specific action plan to achieve her goal.
Fewer than half of the applicants were selected to participate in this prestigious program. This year’s attendees are from: Brazil, Czech Republic, Denmark, England, Germany, Hungary, Israel, Italy, Netherlands, New Zealand, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Switzerland, and the United States. The Seminar was the brainchild of WRJ Past President Dolores Wilkenfeld and reflects her passion for cultivating women’s leadership and her lifelong support for WRJ and WUPJ.
“This is a unique opportunity to deepen the connection between these women and Women of Reform Judaism and the World Union for Progressive Judaism. We look forward to seeing them apply the lessons learned in this seminar to fortify their local Jewish communities and expand their own leadership roles,” expressed WRJ President Blair Marks. She added, “We are thrilled to expand our global reach through these women, and we look forward to supporting them in their growth as religious and community leaders.”
The attendees will stay in contact after the conclusion of the Wilkenfeld Seminar via email and video conferencing as their action plans are put into effect, thus ensuring that the wisdom gained from the Seminar will continue to grow.
WRJ and WUPJ look forward to collaborating on future Wilkenfeld Seminars to strengthen leaders who will assure the future of Reform/Progressive Judaism around the world.
