Scholarships

Scholarship applications are now closed. If you would like to attend SJC and need financial assistance, please contact the WRJ office for more information.

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Identify with WRJ and Reform Jewish values.

  • Open to anyone ages 18+ who identifies as female, non-binary, or gender fluid and who is a member of a WRJ-affiliated sisterhood/women’s group or a WRJ Individual Member.
    • If you are not currently a WRJ member in either of these ways, you can become an Individual Member as part of your SJC registration. The cost for joining as an Individual Member is $54 / year.

  • We ask scholarship recipients to participate fully in SJC and to complete a brief post-convention online survey about their experience and plans to take their new knowledge/skills back to their community.

  • Each applicant must submit their own application.

  • Applications are due by January 12, 2025.

  • Merit and need will be considered as factors in awarding scholarships, with preference given to those who do not have other sources of funding to attend SJC.

FAQS:

How much is each awarded scholarship? What does it cover?
Each scholarship will cover the cost of one Full SJC early bird registration fee of $500. The Full SJC registration includes the following:

  • All (8) meals during the conference: Friday dinner; Saturday breakfast, lunch, and dinner; Sunday breakfast, lunch and dinner; and Monday breakfast.
  • All programming, both pre-SJC (lobbying training on Zoom) and onsite, including workshops, speakers, networking, worship, music, and more.
  • Attendance at the Women’s Empowerment Awards (WEA) dinner event on Sunday night.
  • Pre- and post-SJC access to our private online communications and resource group on Mighty Networks and on our mobile event app.

Can more than one person from my sisterhood/women’s group apply for a scholarship? Can I submit on behalf of several people from my group?
While multiple people from the same group are welcome to apply, please note that no more than two (2) scholarships will be awarded to members from the same sisterhood/women’s group. Each person must submit their own application.

When are applications due? When do I find out if I received a scholarship?
Applications are due January 12, 2025. All applicants will be notified of their status by February 3, 2025.

What will I be expected to do if I get a scholarship?
If you are awarded a scholarship, you will be expected to register by the early bird deadline (February 10, 2025) and attend the conference. You will also need to complete the post-conference survey.

How does the scholarship work? Do I pay anything upfront?
Scholarship recipients should wait to register until after receiving their acceptance notice from WRJ in January and getting the WRJ-provided coupon code from WRJ, for $400 off the $500 SJC early bird registration fee. Once they have the code, they will be able to register with the code and pay only $100 at that time. After attending SJC and completing the post-conference survey, their $100 deposit will be refunded.
