IMPLICIT BIAS: TOOLS AND RESOURCES

Here is the link to an implicit bias test. Search committees both in the business world and the nonprofit sector often use these brief, illuminating tests. After learning about implicit bias together as a group, each member of a search committee should take the test privately. The results should not be shared or revealed. After the group completes their tests, they should discuss their results in general and follow through with learning methods to reduce the influence of bias. It is important to engage with education and training after taking the test, as studies have shown that just taking a test can actually increase implicit bias. Incorporating bias training through the hiring process is vital.

“The Clergy Monologues” video is a teaching tool designed to highlight ongoing gender bias in Jewish spaces. A companion video, “The Educator Monologues,” video, which addresses gender bias that Jewish educators experience, is also available, along with discussion questions.
