Charney, a member of Holy Blossom Temple in Toronto, has been president of that temple’s sisterhood (600 members). While sisterhood president in 2003, she brought forward the Torat Chayim Project to the temple which was a community building initiative to write a new Torah scroll in honour of Holy Blossom Temple’s 150th Anniversary.

Charney joined Women of Reform Judaism’s board of directors in 2005. Since 2009, Sara has served WRJ vice president of Marketing and Communications, vice president of Service to Sisterhoods and Districts, and vice president of Programs and Education. She was installed as WRJ’s First Vice President at FLC 2018 held in Nashville, Tennessee.

Sara is married to Rick Charney and they are the proud parents of Adam, Andrew, and Laura. Baci, a sweet apricot-colored cockapoo, has also recently joined the family!

Abigail Fisher serves as WRJ’s Vice President of Philanthropy. She has previously served as the chair of the WRJ program for the 2017 Consultation on Conscience, WRJ Vice President of Advocacy, Marketing & Communications, and as the program chair for WRJ’s Centennial Assembly in 2013. Abby is also a past president of the WRJ’s Northeast District. Abby graduated from Swarthmore College with a BA in Biology and a minor in religion. She received her PhD in cell biology from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. After working in research and development for several years, she left the paid workforce to focus on her family and her other interests. She received a Masters in Jewish Studies from Hebrew College in 2010. In addition to her work with WRJ, Abby is the founding chair of URJ Six Points Sci-tech Academy East and serves on the Commission on Social Action of Reform Judaism. She also serves as first vice president of her congregation, Beth El Temple Center in Belmont, MA. In her paid life, Abby teaches Hebrew and tutors B’nai mitzvah students. She is also the advisor for Jewish Studies students at her alma mater, Hebrew College. Abby enjoys playing the bassoon, bicycling, and playing golf. She resides in Belmont, MA with her husband, her dogs, and, when they are home, her two children.

Julia Weinstein is the Vice-President of Programs & Education for Women of Reform Judaism. She currently also serves as Pacific District VP of Marketing & Communications.

As an attorney and a member of the bars of California and New York, Julia is experienced at conflict management and resolution. She has conducted conflict management and resolution workshops and programs for WRJ, for the Pacific District, and for individual sisterhoods.

Julia also has experience in the area of marketing and communication. In addition to her duties as her sisterhood’s Marketing & Communications Chair, she currently oversees all WRJ Pacific District marketing and communications, including the district email newsletter, website and Facebook page. She has served on the WRJ Marketing and Communications Committee and collaborated on the WRJ Marketing Toolkit. She has conducted marketing and communications workshops for the Pacific District and for individual sisterhoods.

Julia is a member of the Westside Guild of Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She is a board member emeritus of Eliya-USA, which supports early intervention programs and services for blind and visually impaired children and their families in Israel.

Julia is a past president of University Synagogue Sisterhood in Los Angeles.

She has two adult children and a husband who is very understanding of her busy schedule.

Madi Hoesten has been an active member of Congregation Kol Tikvah Sisterhood in Parkland, FL since moving to the area in 1999. She has been on her sisterhood or temple board in some capacity since joining the sisterhood. After serving on the Southeast District Board as an Area Director, Vice President of Marketing and Communication, 1st Vice President, and then President, she is currently the Immediate Past President of her district. Madi is also a member of the North American Board of Women of Reform Judaism, and is the Vice President of Affiliate Services.

She traveled to Argentina to help initiate a WRJ affiliates program for Progressive womens groups in Argentina, Chile, and Brazil. Madi is the Medical Manager for a large dermatology practice. She is married to Tom and has two children, Michael and Ryan.

Jane Taves the WRJ Vice President of Advocacy and Marketing & Communications. Jane also serves as a member of the URJ Board of Trustees, the World Union for Progressive Judaism Executive Board, and the Board and Executive Committee of her congregation, Temple Beth El in Madison, Wisconsin.

She is retired from a career in healthcare software at Epic Systems, where her roles ranged from software development to project implementation, to sales.

Along with her volunteer work, Jane greatly enjoys the theater, opera, and worldwide travel. She has one adult daughter and two grand dogs.

Lisa D. Singer is the WRJ Treasurer and has been on the WRJ Board since 2013. She serves on the Budget Committee, Finance Committee, and the Investment Committee. Lisa served as Treasurer and Area Director for the WRJ Central District and currently holds a seat on the District’s Executive Committee. She is active at her congregation, Temple Israel in Akron, Ohio. In her professional life, Lisa is an accountant specializing in tax preparation, government accounting, and bookkeeping for small businesses.

Nicole Villalpando is a former president of Women of Reform Judaism's Southwest District and a past president of her sisterhood at Congregation Beth Israel in Austin, Texas. She currently coordinates the Brunch and Learn educational series for her sisterhood. Professionally, Nicole is a reporter and editor for the Austin American-Statesman newspaper as well as a leader for Weight Watchers.

Blair C. Marks was served as WRJ President from December 2013 – March 2018. She previously served as WRJ Vice President, WRJ Treasurer, the first WRJ Audit Committee Chair, and WRJ Budget Committee Chair. She has developed and delivered specialized YES Fund training for the WRJ board and “WRJ 101” training for WRJ District leaders. Blair became involved with sisterhood in the early 1990s while a member of Kahal Kadosh Beth Elohim in Charleston, SC, eventually serving as Sisterhood President from 1994-1995.

She also served in a number of executive roles for the WRJ Southeast District, including as President in 2008-2010. Currently active in the Temple Kol Emeth Sisterhood in Marietta, GA, where she is a Board Trustee and has served on the Temple Board, Blair has, over the years, worked in programming, fundraising, and membership, helping at countless Purim carnivals, Chanukah festivals, art auctions, mystery dinners, and more.

She is a Ramblin’ Reck from Georgia Tech (yes, she’s an engineer!) and holds master’s degrees from the University of Michigan and Georgia State University. She is the Director of Ethics for a global security and defense company. Blair and her husband Joe reside in Marietta, GA and enjoy music; they participate in their Temple choir and occasionally help lead Shabbat services.

Sandy Adland is the Immediate Past President of WRJ Central District. She has served on the Central District Executive Committee in a number of positions over many years. Sandy and her husband Jon live in Canton, Ohio, where Jon is the Rabbi at Temple Israel and Sandy serves as a song leader for Shabbat worship and music teacher in the Religious School. In her professional life, Sandy is the owner of B’shert Home Care, LLC, providing non-medical home care services for the elderly and the very young.

Andrea Gingold, Manager, Professional Women’s Philanthropy, joined UJA Federation NY in June 2016. Previously, Andrea held the position of Director of Development and External Affairs at Legal Information for Families Today. Prior to her career in fundraising, she had an extensive career in sales and marketing in the media industry at such companies as USA Today, Screenvision, Nickelodeon, Meredith, and Verifone. Andrea is on the WRJ Board and the immediate past sisterhood president of Temple Israel of the City of New York. As part of her transition to the non-profit sector, Andrea recently earned a certificate in fundraising from NYU’s Heyman Center for Philanthropy.

Becky Markowitz is a proud member of the Women of Shir Ami, and is the Immediate Past President of the WRJ Atlantic District. She has served on the WRJ Atlantic District Board as the district website manager and many years as Vice President, including Vice President of Marketing & Communications. She is an Alumni & Chai Society member of the WRJ Board. She is a Past President of Shir Ami Congregation. For the past nine years, and has served as the President, Executive Vice-President, Treasurer, Religious School Chair & Financial Chair for the Women of Shir Ami. Prior to joining Shir Ami, she was a member of Temple David in Monroeville where she was sisterhood President for four years and a member of the Board of Directors. She brings extensive experience in sales, management, and marketing to her volunteer roles. She is a realtor and regional trainer for Berkshire Hathaway Home Services Fox & Roach.

Liz McOsker is a past president of Isaac M. Wise Temple Sisterhood in Cincinnati, OH. Prior to assuming the presidency Liz held many different positions. She is very active in the Central District, having previously served as an Area Director and Recording Secretary. As a member of the WRJ Board of Directors, she serves on the WRJ Executive Committee as a Member-At-Large, she previously held the role of Secretary. She co-chaired the 2013 Fried Leadership Conference, co-chaired the 2017 WRJ Women’s Mission to Israel, and led the WRJ Mission Statement Task Force as well as serving on the budget, YES Fund and constitutional revisions committees.

Liz has extensive experience in senior leadership, leading organizations through periods of staffing changes as well as changes in Board structure and participation. In Cincinnati, Liz served as Board president of Kulanu: the Cincinnati Reform Jewish High School, which serves the families of four URJ congregations and is currently the treasurer of the Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Cincinnati, an agency providing emergency shelter to homeless families. She also sits on the board of the Center for Holocaust and Humanities Education.

Liz is married to Paul McOsker. They have young adult children, a son and a daughter. Together, they own North Cliff Consultants, Inc. a product testing company in Cincinnati OH.

Shelley Niceley Groff is a WRJ Executive Committee member and serves on the URJ North American Board and Oversight Committee. As the URJ Lay Leader for Youth, she works with the URJ Youth Team on all aspects of the Campaign for Youth Engagement, which seeks to inspire more young Jews to embrace Jewish life as a path to meaning, purpose and joy.

Deb Radin is amember of the Executive Committee of the North American Board of Women of Reform Judaism. She participated in the first WRJ Wilkenfeld International Women’s Leadership Seminar in 2016, as one of 20 rising global leaders. She served on the WRJ Pacific District 2014 Eleanor Kretzer Kavod committee and was chair of the 2016 Kavod committee. Deb is a Past President of Beth Am Women of Congregation Beth Am in Los Altos Hills, CA, and continues to serve as an honorary member of the board. She is also a reader for the Jewish Plays Project, an organization whose mission is to revitalize and invigorate modern Jewish theater by bringing bold, progressive Jewish conversations on world stages. As an estate planning and probate law attorney who owns her own law firm together with her mother, Deb is also very involved in supporting the interests of the local elder community. She is a frequent speaker on relevant topics and has served on various non-profit boards, currently serving on the board of Avenidas, whose mission is to enrich the lives of older adults and their families. Deb and her husband, Jonathan, have 2 college-aged sons.
