The Torah has many tales of the matriarchs, including Jacob's wives, Leah and Rachel. Yet little is known of their handmaids, Bilhah and Zilpah, who were the mothers of four of the twelve tribes. Who were they and how did they cope with their complicated family life? Rabbi Marla Feldman will answer these and other questions about the character of Bilhah using texts from the Bible and the Midrash and together we will discover a role model for compassion, empathy, and forgiveness. You do not have had to read the portion to participate, all are welcome.
