New York, NY - Following the return of four slain hostages from Hamas captivity after over 500 days in Gaza, Rabbi Liz P.G. Hirsch, CEO of Women of Reform Judaism, released the following statement:
"Women of Reform Judaism embraces the extended Lifshitz and Bibas families on the return of Oded, Shiri, Ariel, and Kfir for over 500 days since their violent capture.
"Every day since the attack on Israel, we have been praying for the safe return of all hostages including a whole family, one of whom spent the majority of his life in captivity.
"We also hold Yarden Bibas close to our hearts as we mourn this unimaginable loss with him and his family.
"Torture of women, children, and families must never be a tactic of war. Led by our Jewish tradition, WRJ is dedicated to protecting the vulnerable.
"We are grateful that these souls can now be properly prepared for eternal rest yet raise our collective voice even louder both in grief about these losses and needed hope to bring the rest of the hostages home."
