"You Have a Voice!"

“I’m not a cantor.”

Surrounded by more than 200 cantors at the American Conference of Cantors (ACC) Convention 2025 in Washington DC earlier this month, this was my mantra as I introduced myself throughout the gathering.

Thank you, thank you, thank you WRJ for

Shabbat Shalom! This Shabbat, we have some exciting news to share. We’ve all been hearing about a potential WRJ Israel trip in 2023 for over a year, and now, it’s happening! Many WRJ members have visited Israel on their own, with friends or families, and/or with WRJ. We’ve experienced the sights, sounds, and delicacies of this beautiful country, either as first-timers or repeat visitors. Every trip to Israel is different from the others (though the food is remarkable whenever we visit!), and this one will be the most exciting yet.

Honoring Our Volunteers

Ellen Miller
The women who say that they don’t have the time but express interest are extremely valuable to us as volunteers. This is one of the greatest challenges volunteer organizations experience, but it’s not impossible. “No” is not always “no” forever. We need to listen carefully to the messages between the “I can’t do it” words. They can give us great insight into things like the kinds of programming, times for meetings, and virtual events they’re interested in so that these women can participate in a way that works for them.
